Safe Control and Reliable Monitoring
The supply unit takes care of controlling and monitoring the laser head and its
peripheral equipment. All the components which are needed for reliable operation
of the diode laser like power supply, cooling unit (water/water or water/air)
and control unit are integrated as plug-in modules. In case of fiber-coupled systems
the laser head can be placed inside the supply unit with only the optical fiber
leading out. In addition, the supply unit contains all necessary interfaces for
the customer's installation as well as the module for telediagnostic service.
Fault Management
A comprehensive system management based on more than 70 system data ensures
maximum availability, also in multi-shift production. All operating states from
laser head to cooling system are continuously monitored. A two-stage fault management
providing warning and error messages enables the plant operator to quickly react
in case of failures.
Stack Management
Laser devices can be furnished with stack management to avoid system brake down.
This electronics identifies the faulty laser stack, disconnects it and calculates
the new parameters automatically. It takes only a few minutes and the laser
is ready for use again. Then, the faulty stack can be conveniently replaced
at a later moment, for example during a production-free shift.
Communication Interfaces
Standard bus communication (Profibus, Interbus) as well as analog and digital
interfaces enable easy integration of the diode laser into external control
systems. The control unit with either touch screen or LC- display enables quick
and intuitive handling of the laser. This standard PLC control system can be
upgraded to take into account particular customer requirements.
